Green Tips: Climate Change and Human Health

May 14, 2025 Blog No Comments

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities- his eternal power and divine nature- have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20)

Consequences of Climate Change on Human Health: The impacts of climate change will intensify existing health threats and new threats could emerge. Some of the obvious results will be respiratory diseases from air pollution and wildfire smoke, increased allergens and pollen. Food insecurity from drought or floods can lead to malnutrition in vulnerable populations. Flooding also leads to waterborne diseases. Temperature extremes from more severe cold in winter and heat in summer cause hypothermia and dehydration in those exposed to the elements. Vectors of disease, such as mosquitos, fleas and ticks will also increase as a result of changing climate. Taking steps to control climate change, like reducing use of fossil fuels, will slow these disturbing effects. Let’s all do our part!
